Partnering for Prestige.

The craft behind Lambay Whiskey Single Malt Castle Prestige Edition 20 Years Old is a remarkable story of enduring heritage and innovative collaboration.

We partner with Camus, producers of the world’s most luxuri- ous cognacs since 1863. With five generations of expertise to lean on, we trust them to provide us with the finest of their French oak cognac casks for our superlative whiskey. We hand-select each cask for its aromatic character and carry them across the sea to Lambay.

Working with leading Irish distillers, for this project specifically, Noel Sweeney (ex Master Distiller Cooley / Powerscourt Dis- tillery), a bold single malt was sourced that could take our unique finishing style.

Secrets in the Stone.

We approached Artist David Norton with a concept to photograph in high definition a sample of porphyry rock from Lambay to investigate what beauty this igneous rock has, we never expected it to be quite so surprising...

An Island
Unique in Itself.

Lambay is an island of volcanic origin, with a singular claim of distinction – a particular rock type. It has long been known as the source of the ‘Lambay Porphyry’, a distinctive and decorative stone, grey-green in colour and full of small crystals of paler greenish feldspar.

Porphyry is a textural term for an igneous rock consisting of large-grained crystals such as feldspar or quartz dispersed in a fine-grained silicate rich, generally aphanitic matrix or groundmass. The larger crystals are called phenocrysts.

Unlock the Secrets Set in Stone.

Unique to the northern hemisphere and deeply abundant in Lambay is the secretly fantastical porphyry rock. Historically, Byzantine emperors believed this igneous rock to be the stone of fertility.

Using macro-photography, artist David Norton captured a section of this rock in high definition. His electrifying work revealed an otherworldly bounty of natural colour, pattern, texture and crystallisation that has never been seen before.

These limited edition prints showcase the inner world of Lambay that shapes the whiskey we love.
